West Wind's Character Guide
[This is an INCOMPLETE guide, I will keep adding to it, but so far it's pretty in shambles. Characters will have references one day....]

Silvestre family
Rickey Silvestre (39 yo)
He was a profesional grand prix dressage rider in his early life, debuted at 18 and was quite successful for a few years, however, almost two decades ago he was exposed for horse abuse by his team mate, Park Ji-won, who was close enough to him to get evidence. He went to court, and almost one year later, he managed to avoid jail but was banned from all international competition and got his horses taken from him. However, this incident been almost 20 years ago, he's got himself back on his feet since then, and not many people seems to remember him or what he did. He's now a trainer and lesson instructor on dressage, and his new employers are unaware of his past. He's a lot more conscious too now, about not leaving permanent marks on his horses, but his ways haven't changed that much.
He owns Imperious, and formerly, Secret Affair before the stallion got removed from his hands.
Vesta Silvestre (16yo)
Daughter of Rickey and Colette, she happened during a quick fling the two of them had back when Rickey was starting to give lessons. She's been homeschooled most of her life, as her dad kept moving around barn hopping in the look for jobs when she was little, and didn't get the chance of settling down or making durable friendships.
Her parents have shared custody of her, but she spends most time with her dad anymore, and some weekends with her mother as it makes her uncomfortable, Rickey gets jealous when she goes to her mother's, and always makes a fus about what did Colette said about him, if she was bad mouthing him to his daughter. To avoid drama, Vesta stays with him a lot of the weekends he should spend with her mom.
She's a talented rider, pointing towards eventing. Her dad got her Babylon when she was 10, as a foal that would grow side by side with her, and the mare quickly became her one and only companion.
Colette B (37yo)
Vesta's mother, she did too her good amount of barn hopping back in the day till she landed in West Winds to teach children lessons, she's in charge of teaching western beginner lessons to ages 4 to 8, so mostly takes care of the mini ponies and takes pony walks around the property with a bunch of kids, and she thrives in this job.
Rickey coming to work to West Winds came as a surprise to her, and a bitter one, as they're not in the best terms. She, in fact, cannot stand him.
Farran-Chapman family
Eloise Chapman (31 yo)
The third of a family of 6 siblings, she would have never been the first pick to take on such task as bringing the stables back to their own glory till she met her husband, Jack, in highschool. They both were passionate about horses, among many other things, and West Wind started to be in their minds as their life project before they even graduated.
They got married young, and had their first daughter, Charity, when she was just 20. Just 3 years later, they opened West Wind's door as a riding school and started working towards what it is now. Her dream was to share her passion for horses and make it affordable for everybody.
The following years were a hustle, getting the business back on its feet and raising a child, and she loved her life and her family. They lived the dream. 5 years later, their second daughter was born, Felicity.
She's a giver, coming back from a wealthy family, she wants to give back to her community as much as she can, and uses West Winds for that objective, making it affordable and creating a familiar enviroment for kids to grow up around horses and make friends, and loves that her own kids are growing up in that kind of enviroment. Owns Walter as her personal riding horse.
Jack Farran (33 yo)
Came from nowhere, and married the princess. He and his mother migrated to the US when he was in highschool, she had a trail riding business for a few years, and Jack helped everywhere he could.
They really struggled for a long time, and he had to repeat a few years in highschool just to catch up, with the language and generally, he just didn't do very well in school but Eloise took a like to him. He still today cannot phantom what it was that she saw in him but he's been head over toes for that woman since the very first day they met and started talking. He's such a family guy, and loves his daughters. He would do anything for them.
He got involved with West Winds, and through some contacts in Eloise's family, he started to work as a jockey to pay bills, and through the contacts he made there he was able to grow his skill sets and contacts and become a pretty competent all around trainer, which came incredibly handy when West Winds started to grow and more horses started to arrive to the premises. At some point, he was the only teacher there, now they have some staff but still, he takes a huge amount of the work load, almost single handedly taking care of their racing stables and horses in training.
His personal horses are Catching Fire, Game Over and Silly Lil Thing, he also owns as a project Sunny Side Up and Effie Oh
Charity Farran-Chapman (15 yo)
Eldest daughter, she has always had some sort of adoration for her dad. She grew up pretty sheltered, being a very shy little kid she struggled to open up to friends and spent a lot of time clinging to her parents. She used to be scared of horses, but now they're kind of just a staple in her life, and is now starting to help her dad with his job and learning more about them. Even trying to find a field she's comfortable enough to compete in.
She would do anything to make her parents proud, disappointing them is her biggest fear, but she could never do that. They're already proud of her and there's no way that would change. However, that's hard to see as a teenager.
Currently rides Busy Bee, in the future her parents will get her Smoke and Mirrors.
Felicity Farran-Chapman (7 yo)
She's a promising young little girl, way more ambitious than her sister even as a young girl. She picked an interest in dressage very early on and started riding her mom's horse, Walter, and showing in kid shows at age 6.
She's the whole reason why Rickey ended up in West Winds. He saw her in a show, and decided to approach her parents to see if they had a proper trainer for that girl, he managed to smooth his way through them and they agreed and ended up hiring him as there weren't a dressage instructor in the facility at the time, and they had students that were interested in that kind of riding.
In the future her parents buy Cold Brew for her.
Tiya Farran (52 yo)
Grandma, she was the first one to come help in West Winds when the workload overwhelmed Jack and Eloise at the very beginning, she brought her trail horses and they became the very first lesson horses of the facility, and she stayed as a teacher for beginners as a favour. Jack wanted to provide for her, give her the chance to have an stable job and eventually retire, and she's forever grateful. She loves teaching. And she's clearly a trust worthy person to keep around in the barn, she will be warm and welcoming and help you with anything you might possibly need.
Owns most of the school horses, but her personal horse that's currently semi-retired is Canalla.
Other Staff
Jesse Harlow (34 yo)
One of Jack's best friends from back in the day, he is a true cowboy, having his own family ranch and all that. He tried briefly to go pro in rodeo but that dream got crushed when a bad fall left him in a rough spot and doctors said he either quit or it would be very hard for him to live past his 20s.
Jack asked him for help at the beginning, and he used to do maybe a couple lessons on western disciplines, a little more advanced than Colette could offer, just on the weekends, on the side with rodeo and ranch work, but now he's more settled and has found a sweet spot for teaching. Seeing little kids picking interest in riding and having a chance to share his way of life with the new generations fills a hole for him that he hardly even knew was there.
He's dating Dorothy, they've been dating since highschool, since before Jack even met them. At this point it is an inside joke in the group why they aren't married yet.
Jasper Buckley (29yo) owned by miscreantseas
Owner of the neighbouring property, Honeyglow Creek. He met the Farran family briefly after an incident with a loose stallion, and since there has become a good friend and often helps with lessons whenever he can fit the time in. He has a daughter, Marley, that will start lessons as well.
Thomas Harlow (29 yo)
Jesse's brother, as a favour Jack agreed to hire him as a groom while he works his way through university and then he just stayed around. He boards his horses in the stables so he's always there for one reason or the other.
He also tried to go profesional in rodeo, and it also didn't work for him, but unlike his brother he doesn't like teaching. He also has been through some rough patches in which he struggled to keep a job and Jack and Jesse have helped him out.
Dorothy Lofton (33 yo)
She's West Wind's veterinarian, she doesn't work on site, but she's always the first number on the list to call when anything happens. And she's there all the time anyway, bothering Jesse any chance he has.
She's smart and ambitious, she made it as a profesional barrel racer for a few years, but after her horse substained an injury and she had to retire him, she realised how unstable that path of life is and decided to get back to school and pave a proper life for herself and her (future) family.
She knows she has Jesse wrapped around her finger, and she loves him more than anything but she also doesn't understand what is keeping him from proposing to her.
Milana (26 yo)
She's the owner and the tender of Little Treat Cafe in West Winds. She's visually impaired (not completely blind) and owns a service pony, a small falabella mare called Amay that she has with her all the time.
She loves nature and cooking, and is in general a very cheerful person and very loved in the stables. She owns Amay, a falabella horse that acts as a service horse for her, to help her in her daily life.
Looking for an interaction
So I'm participating in the Pegasus Cup Throwback Event, right, for the 2023 races with my stallion Catching Fire and I'm looking for a rival to feature in art that is also running those races! I don't care which one of the two wins, if any, Catching Fire is currently retired, by my jockey still has some active horses to run if you'd like to continue this rivalry to present days.
